About...

Amanda Maguire

I grew up in rural Northwest Indiana and attended Ball State University where I earned my bachelor's degree in social work in 2001.  Shortly thereafter I attended the University of Michigan where I completed my master's degree in social work in 2003.  Prior to opening my practice, I worked in a variety of healthcare settings including long-term care, hospice, and an acute hospital setting.  Recently, I worked as a medical social worker in the ICU during the COVID-19 pandemic where I supported patients and their loved ones during some of the scariest times of their lives.  Working in a variety of healthcare settings, as well as experiencing my own healthcare journey filled with "mystery symptoms," has provided me with a unique lens into the many needs and adversities that individuals encounter within the US healthcare system.  I am passionate about helping others discover the mind-body connection, as well as understanding the root cause of their mental health needs.  While we cannot always heal our bodies in the way that we hope, we can heal our souls.  It is truly an honor to be a part of another’s healing journey; this intimate experience is both beautiful and humbling.

When not at work, I enjoy making memories with my husband and our 3 fur children where we reside in the mountains on our little homestead.  My father instilled his love of nature within me when I was a young child, and to this day my love for nature remains a deep part of my soul.  I enjoy backpacking, hiking, camping, and fishing.  Of course, there are always days that Mother Nature does not provide optimal weather for spending time outdoors, so on these days you can find me curled up with a book, or in the kitchen where I love creating and baking desserts, particularly decorating cupcakes and cakes!

Experience

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado (license# csw.09924996)

I have over 20 years of experience working in various healthcare settings where I have supported both patients and their family members.  Each setting has provided me with a unique opportunity to truly understand the needs of those I have served.  For example, my work in long-term care allowed me to see the daily mental health struggles that individuals faced while losing independence in many aspects of their lives.  Alternatively, my work in hospice care provided me an opportunity to gain an understanding of the grief support that was needed for both those who were transitioning out of this lifetime, as well as for those who stayed behind. And, finally, my experience in an acute hospital setting has provided me the opportunity, and honor, to be present with those during acute medical crises and emergencies.
